Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

 


1. Operate in the GIS Desktop Environment.
2. Organize and categorize GIS Data.
3. Use thematic mapping to display GIS data.
4. Modify the database in the creation of new variables.
5. Demonstrate basic cartographic skills.
6. Differentiate between and utilize various standard geographic
coordinate systems.
7. Use spatial analysis techniques to combine geographic data.
8. Locate new sources of GIS data through collection.
9. Manage GIS files and workspaces.
10. Apply information learned and apply to new GIS problems.
11. Create a new Graphic User Interface (GUI).
12. Create new functionality in GIS using existing code.
