This course introduces the fundamentals of non-impact exercise emphasizing the principles of Joseph Pilates. Classes provide the dancer and nondancer with exercises to improve abdominal and back strength, flexibility, and postural alignment. Pilates involves integrating the physical and mental aspects of movement in order to counterbalance weakness and correct imbalances in the body. Enhancement in these areas in turn provides for greater technical ability in any movement-based program, such as other dance studies, sports, or exercise programs, challenging to all fitness levels. Proper breathing techniques are emphasized, the focus being on exercising the mind as well as the body. |  | Important Dates |  |
