Terri Whitt joined Saddleback College in July, 1976. Her focus is critical care, leadership and community nursing - N 176. Cardiovascular nursing is her “love”. She also teaches in N 170 and N 171 and HSC 217. She created the TeleEducation (Distance Education) for Health Sciences, teaching live to Saddleback, Hoag, and UCI Medical Center with advanced technology teaching tools. She organized the nursing Service Learning project where nursing students from 3 local community colleges work with the homeless. She has developed the OCRNLinks.com (Orange County Registered Nurse) website for OC nurses. She created the on-line/podcasted nursing skills site called “ALFA" for the nursing program and nurses around the world. http://www.saddleback.edu/alfa ALFA was awarded the Bayada Award for Technology & Inovation in Nursing Education. Dr. Whitt received the State Chancellor Region 8 “Student Success” Award for her Partnership with Homeless Agencies and the Gerald C. Hayward Excellence in Education Award from the California Community College Board of Governors. She belongs to DMAT-CA1 - Disaster Medical Assistance Team-California 1 under the Department of Health & Human Service.
Prior to joining SC, Terri worked at Cal State University, LA and St. Vincent’s Hospital. She has worked as an RN and nursing instructor in 3rd world countries, such as, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Thailand, Honduras and Belize. Her professional affiliations are: CCRN, AACN, and UCLA Alumni. When not at work, Terri enjoys her family and traveling.
